Rebeca Andrade

Rebeca Andrade is the most decorated gymnast in Latin American history and Brazil’s most successful Olympian. In Tokyo in 2021 she won gold on vault and silver in the all-around. In Paris in 2024 she won floor gold, silver in the all-around and on vault, and bronze with the team. She also has three world titles: vault in 2021 and 2023, and the all-around in 2022.

She grew up in Guarulhos, outside São Paulo, one of eight kids raised by a single mom, and started gymnastics at four thanks to her aunt. At 10 she moved to Rio de Janeiro on her own to join Flamengo, where she still trains with coach Francisco Porath Neto. She tore her ACL three times between 2015 and 2019, and fighting her way back made her an icon. In 2026 she returned from a break from competition: at Pan Ams in Rio she won vault gold and team silver in front of a home crowd, and in September she took silver on beam in Szombathely.
