Kaylia Nemour

Kaylia Nemour is the best bar worker in the world. At the Paris 2024 Olympics she won bars gold with a 15.700, the first gymnast from Africa ever to top an Olympic podium. A year later in Jakarta she added the world bars title with a 15.566, plus silver on beam.

Born and raised in France, she switched to Algeria, her father’s country, in 2022 after a dispute with the French federation over knee surgery. She still trains in France, since 2025 at Alliance Dijon Gym 21 with coach Nadia Massé. In the all-around she was fifth in Paris and fourth at 2025 Worlds, less than a tenth out of bronze.

Her 2026 has been dominant: a new bars skill, the Nemour 2, debuted in Cottbus, World Cup series titles on bars and beam, all five golds at African Championships, and the all-around, bars and beam titles at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, where her 57.750 is the world’s top all-around score this year.

Algeria qualified a full team for Worlds in Rotterdam. Nemour was not on the FIG name entry of Sept. 18, but Algerian media expect her there.
