Haruka Nakamura

Haruka Nakamura announced herself as the 2023 junior world all-around champion in Antalya, where she also won team gold with Japan and bronze on floor. A year later she was in Paris with Japan’s Olympic team, which finished eighth, and placed 15th in the all-around.

In 2025 she won beam at the Baku World Cup, then took all-around and bars silver plus floor bronze at the Asian Championships in Jecheon. At Worlds in Jakarta she competed on bars and finished 15th in qualifying.

Her 2026 domestic season was tougher: eighth at the All-Japan Championships and 14th at the NHK Trophy. But Japan’s selection system rewards what a gymnast adds to the team score, and Nakamura earned the fifth spot. She delivered at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, scoring 14.233 on beam and 13.633 on floor in the team final as Japan won silver.

Born in Osaka in 2008, she trains at Namba Gymnastics Club with Takayuki Yamazaki and Miki Shimomura. She has been named to Japan’s team for Worlds in Rotterdam.
